Loudon Hill Walk

27/5/2016

Andrew Templeton joined our walking group for the first time on Saturday as we drove from Auchincruive to the Darvel area to include a climb of Loudon Hill in our walk.

It was a fine sunny day, blue skies and great visibility and we all made the top without too much difficulty where we were able to enjoy magnificent panoramas  for many miles around while devouring the contents of our lunch boxes - Liz Fulton's Empire Biscuits made the effort really worthwhile!
On our descent we completed our walk around the country roads , with the added excitement of a shower of hailstones, the size of golfballs - honest! - before driving back home.

Our Canadian Visitors

Rev. Ken Yorke welcomed two far- travelled visitors to the morning service at Auchincruive Church on Sunday.
Margot and Bill Pygas from Cumberland near Ottawa in Ontario, Canada are here on a month's holiday and came to visit Auchincruive Church, where Margot's Great, Great Grandmother was baptised and married, before emigrating to Canada In the early 1900's.
Following the service our visitors enjoyed some coffee and cakes with the congregation. Elder John Black was on hand to pass on details of Auchincruive's long history.
Margot and Bill will be visiting England and Wales before returning home to Canada.
We were delighted to see them and wish them a safe trip.

Just another brick in the Wall!

Steady progress.

These latest pictures from Auchincruive show that the Stonemasons are making steady progress shaping the stone blocks to blend in with the old original stonework on our perimeter wall. I would say they are about half way through the build and it is looking good.
