A Happy New Year to you on behalf of everyone from Ayr St Quivox Parish Church.
For many people New Year is a time of looking back and wondering where the last year has gone. Given that we are also entering a new decade some might be looking back over the last ten years and wondering how ten years can appear to fly in, in what seems like ten seconds.
For those of us in the church, it might appear that we get stuck in the past and that we look back on times that appeared to be better for the church, and we do so at the expense of everything we want to achieve in the here and now.
As a parish church we are still just as committed to our communities of Auchincruive and Dalmilling as those who travelled this path before us were. The church can only ever be at its best when it is engaging with those out with our walls, as well as working with our members and those who come inside our buildings on a regular basis.
The point being that Ayr St Quivox is not just a church for those who are members, but we also strive to be the church for those within the community irrespective of what you believe and where you stay. The best way of being community is being a community with one another.
Jesus was once asked by a man “who is my neighbour?” and Jesus replied by telling him the parable of the Good Samaritan. In essence, it was a story of looking after someone and going the extra mile for them irrespective of whether you knew them or not. That’s something that we believe in our church as well. That our neighbours aren’t just those who sit beside us every Sunday, instead everybody within the bounds of our parish are our neighbours, our community is more than just the membership of the church.
We would like to get to know everybody better. To show and share the love of Jesus and to quite simply help in any way we can.
Our services are at 10 30 on Sunday mornings and they rotate between Auchincruive one week and at Dalmilling the next. Check our Facebook page or the web site for further information on these services and other events that are taking place in the church.
Happy New Year!
