Mini Bus Trip

16/9/2017

The Weather Forecast was not very promising, but on the day of our outing to Arran, the winds had dropped, the rain had stopped and blue skies were everywhere - much to our surprise.

With Ian, our trusty driver at the wheel, we arrived in plenty of time to board the Ferry for Arran and very soon the Bus was on-board. By the time we had reached the Cafeteria, the ship was on it's way and we were able to enjoy our teas, coffees, toast or filled rolls. The sea was flat calm and we had a very smooth crossing, arriving in Brodick just before 11 o'clock.  Once on dry land we set off for a  bit of retail therapy at Arran Aromatics and the Cheese Shop - and a wee chance for Ian and Rev.Ken to have a seat on a Fergie Tractor.
Smelling lovely and topped up with some tasty cheese samples, we continued on through some beautiful scenery around the top of Arran to Lochranza where, in brilliant sunshine, we visited the historic Castle and enjoyed some healthy sea-air.
To keep the Forecasters happy, we had a heavy rain shower as we travelled down the west coast, past the 'Twelve Apostles' at Catacol, through Dougarie to reach the tea-room at Machrie Golf Club where all on board enjoyed a nice lunch as we watched the weather clear and the Sun re-appear.
Lunch over we drove on through Blackwaterfoot and carried on around the south of the island, enjoying a different view of Aillsa Craig, before calling in to the Arran Foods outlet  shop at Lamlash for a jar of Musard!  We completed our Arran tour back at Brodick with a visit for some health food at the Hand-made Chocolate Shop before re-boarding the Ferry back to the mainland and the final drive back home..
Grateful thanks to  our driver for the day, Ian Fulton for making arrangements for the Mini Bus and seeing us all back home safely. Thanks also to Gwyn Stone for his 'sponsorship'. A good day out which I think was enjoyed by everyone.
