Sangs  and Clatter at our Burns Night

We had a good turnout on Thursday for our wee Burns Night and I think it is safe to say, everyone enjoyed themselves.
The Wilson Hall was suitably dressed for the occasion and we had all the right ingredients to pay tribute to our National Bard.  We had our Cheiftain Haggis - addressed by David McMahon, we had music - Henk and Robert of The Border Reivers, we had a Duet from Aileen and Ian, fine Fiddle music from Jennifer McCutcheon and our very own 'Burntoot' Choir.
We had fine poetry including a stellar performance of 'Tam o' Shanter' from Peter Capaldi, a hilarious Toast to the Lassies from Jim McArthur ably replied to by Aileen Wiliams, and a thoughtful toast to 'The Immortal Memory of Robert Burns' was given by Peter Doyle from Alloa.
there was enough home baking to feed army - Donuts, Tattie Scones, Dumplin',Fruit Loaves, Shortbread and Tablet all washed down with Tea, Coffee and copious amounts of Irn Bru.
Rev Ken Yorke gave a gracious vote of thanks and proceedings were ended by rounding renditions by the company of 'The Star o' Rabbie Burns and Auld Lang Syne'. then everyone went home happy!!
Many thanks are due to members of the Events Committee for organising the evening, to all who donated prizes for the lucky Draw, and to everyone who made the effort to make the evening a success.
