A Grand Night!
Local Group, BROCH had feet tapping as they entertained the audience with a varied programme of traditional and contemporary Scottish music played with great individual skill and enthusiasm. They set the tone for the evening with the audience clapping for more. Jennifer McCutcheon entertained us with some fine Jigs and Reels on the Violin in addition to accompanying The'Burn't Oot Choir who led the community singing. Ian Fulton and Eileen Williams duetted with The Skye Boat Song, and Eileen also gave a fine rendition of The Laird o' Cockpen. Husband Gwyn gave proceedings a novel twist - a Welshman reading two poems by William McGonogal - a hard price to pay for Scotland's recent victory at Murrayfield!! Compere David McMahon kept things moving along with the odd story, and the Rev. Ken Yorke gave a warm vote of thanks to end the evening.
Thanks are due to members of the Events Committee for supplying a cornucopia of food - we had absolutely everything - Dumpling, Tattie Scones, Donuts, Sausage Rolls, a great variety of Sandwiches, Canapes, Tablet, Ginger Wine, Tea, Coffee and Irn Bru - not a night for losing weight!!
All in all it was a night of Fun, Laughter and great Music enjoyed by everyone.
